If you have experience in behavioral health and a passion for supporting individuals with co-occurring conditions, this role offers an incredible opportunity to grow your career. As a Lead Behavioral Technician, you will play a key role in ensuring a safe, structured, and nurturing environment for clients while providing leadership and support to the team. You will:
  • Resolve issues and communicate concerns to the Program Director while ensuring adherence to company policy. Maintain client engagement in daily programming and report participation issues.

  • Train and mentor Behavioral Technician team members, ensuring performance standards are met. Provide feedback to the Program Director and assist with performance evaluations. Assign and oversee daily tasks to maintain a clean and organized environment.

  • Monitor and document client activities in the EMR system, including intake/discharge inventories, medication self-administration, and scheduled UA collections. Ensure compliance with documentation and audit records at the end of each shift.

  • Facilitate and document educational and support groups, ensuring timely and accurate record-keeping. Oversee team training, certifications, and compliance requirements to support professional growth.

  • Ensure client safety by supervising activities, conducting room and facility searches, and addressing contraband or safety concerns. Transport clients to offsite appointments as needed while maintaining a safe driving record.

This is a full-time, hourly position working Monday through Friday from 1:45 PM to 10:15 PM. It pays $25 to $28 per hour based on your experience. Sign-on bonus:  
  1. $2,000 with a one-year retention…..  ½ paid at 6 months and ½ paid at one year with the company.
  2. $3,000 with a one-year retention….. ½ paid at 6 months and ½ paid at one year with the company.
                                Must have one of the following certifications:
  1. AAPT (American Assn of Psychiatric Technicians)
  2. MHTC (Mental Health Technician Certification)
  3. CMHT (Certified Mental Health Technician)
  4. NCPT (Nationally Certified Psychiatric Technician)
  5. RADT (Registered Alcohol Drug Technician)

Beachside Teen Treatment Center is a tranquil, rehabilitation haven for adolescents struggling with addiction, substance abuse and co-occurring mental health disorders. Our beautiful residential facility is based in Malibu, California, with panoramic views of the Pacific Ocean. To be a good fit for the Lead Behavioral Technician opportunity, you will have:
  • Possess a High School diploma or GED; AA or BA in related field preferred.
  • Valid first aid and CPR certification.
  • Have a minimum of 2-3 years or more of experience in the social service field.
  • Demonstrate a genuine desire to work with the population served.
  • Must have worked in the company for at least 1 year as a Technician and proven ability to set an example to less experienced Technicians.
  • Current drivers’ license, insurance and clear DMV record.
  • Certification in mental health preferred.

Physical Requirements:

  • Able to sit and stand for long periods, bending, stooping and/or frequent walking.
  • Able to lift and move up to 25 pounds.
  • Position requires walking up a steep incline, oftentimes in the heat.
  • Constantly operates a computer with other office machinery.
  • Frequently communicates with other employees and clients.
  • Must be able to travel between assigned facilities via car.

This position requires a valid California driver’s license and the ability to pass and maintain a clean driving record check (MVR) in accordance with our company standards. 
In addition, you must be at least 21 years of age and pass a background check, live scan, physical and TB test to work at the facility.

As a Lead Behavioral Technician, you will play a key role in ensuring a safe, nurturing, and engaging experience for our clients with co-occurring conditions.

In this leadership role, you will oversee daily operations, mentor and train staff, and maintain high performance standards. You’ll work closely with Clinicians and the Executive Director setting a positive example and ensuring company policies and expectations are met.

Each shift will include general daily activities (i.e., waking clients, providing hygiene baskets, monitoring from a distance, doing chores, ensuring meds are taken, etc.). Specifically, you may:

  • Serve as the primary point of contact during shifts, resolving issues and escalating concerns to the Program Director as needed.
  • Ensure client engagement in daily programming and report participation concerns.
  • Oversee and conduct client surveys throughout their stay and coordinate parent surveys at discharge.
  • Coach, train, and mentor Behavioral Technician team members, ensuring performance expectations are met. Provide feedback and support professional growth.
  • Assign and oversee daily operational tasks, including maintaining a clean and organized workplace, stocking supplies, and monitoring inventory.
  • Maintain and document client activities in the EMR system, including intake/discharge inventories, medication self-administration, and scheduled UAs.
  • Lead and document educational and support groups, ensuring compliance with training and certification requirements.
  • Conduct room and facility checks to maintain safety and report any concerns to the Program Director.
  • Transport clients to offsite appointments and maintain a safe driving record.
  • Assist clients with daily living activities, including meal clean-up, laundry, and organization.
